Jervis Bay sailed between Britain and Australia for nearly 20 years. At the beginning of World War II, it was taken over by the Royal Navy and armed. It operated in the Atlantic, escorting convoys. On 5 November 1940, the convoy HX-84 it was escorting was attacked by the German pocket battleship Admiral Scheer. Jervis Bay was sunk after an unequal battle, but most of the convoy’s ships managed to escape. The model can be assembled in two versions — as the pre-war passenger ship in its classic paint scheme, or as the famous armed merchant cruiser during its final voyage.
